Health Serious Games Added To Prescholer Educational Offerings

PRESS RELEASE

PLAYNORMOUS HEALTH SERIOUS GAMES EXHIBIT HELPS LAUNCH REOPENING OF THE WOODLANDS CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

Houston, Texas (July 8, 2010) -- Playnormous, an award-winning producer of health research-based video games and media for children, announces its debut at The Woodlands Children's Museum. Playnormous staff will be at the museum's official re-opening in Panther Creek on Saturday July 10, 2010 with an innovative fruit and vegetable "petting zoo." Children will be able to play nutrition and exercise education video games with their families, and players will walk away with a Playnormous balloon. Playnormous games were recently named Creative Child Magazine's 2010 Media of the Year Award Winner and are also exhibited at the Houston Children's Museum.

"Adding a Playnormous exhibit to The Woodlands Children's Museum is going to expose young children to foods they've never seen before and give parents a great opportunity to start healthy habits early," explains Playnormous Director of Marketing Melanie Lazarus, MPH. "Our ultimate goal is prevention of childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes using media kids love to play."

Playnormous donated a hand-illustrated iMac computer as part of the permanent exhibit at the museum. Families can play from a suite of Playnormous health video games about fruit and vegetables, portion size, food groups and aerobic activity. Playnormous video games are freely available to children, parents and teachers at http://www.playnormous.com/, a 2009 Web Health Award winner and kids.gov-approved website.

The award-winning CD-ROM version of the video games is available for purchase by parents wanting to continue the experience at home without using the Internet.

The Woodlands Children's Museum will reopen on July 10, 2010 at 4774 W. Panther Creek Drive in the Randalls/CVS Shopping Center located at the intersection of Woodlands Parkway and Gosling Road. Free Admission Open House will take place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, July 10.
